Callmewine's Favourites
Organic and biodynamicThe Vouvray "Les Deronnieres" is a white wine from the Loire that comes to life from Chenin Blanc grapes sourced from the best plot of the estate, consisting of limestone matrix. Matured in used oak barrels, it has aromas of linden honey, spring flowers, citrus zest, tropical fruit, and salty accents. Mineral and tense, yet also deep and of great breadth, it reveals a clean sip with vibrant mineral salinity.
Les Déronnières Vouvray Sec by François and Julien Pinon is a Chenin Blanc from the Loire that excites with elegance and breadth. For more than two centuries, the Pinon family has been writing the wine history of the Vouvray area, on the right bank of the Loire River. The great diversity of soils available to the winery, mainly clay and silica-based, as well as the different exposures and ages of the vines, allow the Pinons to offer numerous facets of Chenin Blanc, the principal grape variety of this vocated area. Among all the labels offered, ranging from sparkling wines to dessert wines, Les Déronnières represents the flagship dry white.
Pinon Vouvray AOC Les Déronnières Sec is produced solely from Chenin Blanc grown organically in the most vocated area of the estate, consisting of limestone soils rich in gypsum. The harvest is manual, and the alcoholic fermentation, carried out exclusively by indigenous yeasts, proceeds very slowly for about 60-90 days. Subsequently, the wine matures 4-5 months on the fine lees in used oak barrels and is then bottled after filtration.
used oak barrels and is then bottled after filtration. In appearance, the Vouvray Sec Les Déronnières by François and Julien Pinon expresses an intriguing deep straw yellow color with golden flashes. Elegant on the nose, described by notes of white flowers, exotic fruit, honey, and citrus, accompanied by pronounced mineral puffs. Tense and deep taste, in great balance between lively freshness, silky roundness, and mineral vein. A complete, long-lived, and gastronomic French white, ideal pairing with moderately structured fish dishes, such as the traditional sandre au beurre blanc, a fillet of zandra seasoned with a creamy butter sauce.
