Cantina di Cunéaz Nadir
The Nadir Cunéaz Winery was founded in Gressan, on the outskirts of Aosta, in 2009, though Nadir’s grandfather and father were already producing wine for personal use. Here, amid the Valdostan hills, the family cultivates a small vineyard of about 2 hectares where native grape varieties such as Petit Rouge, Vien de Nus, and Fumin coexist with international varieties like Pinot Noir, Moscato, and Gewurztraminer. Some rows are over 50 years old, while others are even centuries old, reflecting a historical continuity and a deep bond with the land. Production is intentionally limited to a few thousand bottles, designed to highlight the unique character of each vineyard and showcase the richness of the Valdostan terroir.
In the vineyard, the Nadir Cunéaz Winery follows principles of maximum respect for the environment and biodiversity. The vines, located on the right bank of the Dora, grow on morainic soils and are not treated with herbicides or pesticides, but only with copper and sulfur five times per season. Every intervention is carefully calibrated to maintain the health of the plants and the natural balance of the soil, preserving the unique characteristics of each vineyard and ensuring grapes that are healthy, expressive, and true to the territory.
In the cellar, Nadir Cunéaz conducts spontaneous fermentations or uses self-produced pied de cuve, without clarifications, filtrations, or chemical additives. This approach allows the essence of each vineyard to be fully expressed in the glass. The wines convey the richness of Valdostan and international grape varieties, natural in substance and authentic in character. From the delicately tannic Petit Rouge to the soft and generous Gewurztraminer, and the aromatic, lively Moscato, each bottle tells a story of harmony between soil, climate, and human craftsmanship. On the nose, the wines are fruity, floral, and lightly spiced, while on the palate they are balanced and harmonious, with a saline and persistent finish. These wines embody a passion for the land and a commitment to preserving Valdostan heritage, making them perfect accompaniments to traditional regional dishes.
