The Cambria winery is a historic Sicilian producer that was established back in 1864 in the hills surrounding the town of Furnari, in the province of Messina. It all began with a deep bond that the Cambria family chose to establish with the land of Sicily, where the gentle hills of Furnari are warmed by the thick rays of the sun. The first steps were taken by Matteo, with the first 100 bottles produced and labelled by the newly established Cambria winery. The next steps were taken by Rocco, his eldest son who, inspired by the American dream, began to import more advanced vine-growing techniques, bringing a more modern feel to the winery. In the 1950s, the leadership passed to the new generation, represented by Matteo, an innovator by definition, who gave a new boost to Cambria, investing in the area around Mamertino and building a new winemaking facility. Today it is Franco and Nino who manage this family winemaking heritage inspired by innovation, passion and entrepreneurship, with the help of Nancy Astone for sales and marketing. Their greatest contribution has undoubtedly been the revival of an ancient local grape variety, Nocera, historically loved by Julius Caesar, which Nino - now defined by critics as the ''Father of Nocera'' - has been committed to selecting, cloning and replanting in the historic vineyard of Mastronicola.

The current 25 hectares of vineyards on the Cambria estate are immersed in a unique landscape, at altitudes ranging from 150 to 350 metres. The soils derive from Pliocene marine marl with limestone, shale and volcanic rocks, right in the heart of the Mamertino denomination, where the marked temperature fluctuations between day and night allow the grapes to ripen perfectly. The desire to create territorial and genuine labels, which is the driving force behind the Cambria estate's work, goes hand in hand with the necessity to respect the environment. In fact, the winery has equipped itself with solar panels from which it obtains its energy requirements and has designed a Biomass system based on the waste of marc and wood prunings. The same technological innovation can be found in the wine cellar, which has been recognised as one of the most technologically advanced wine cellars in Sicily. An accurate 'see control' system allows only the best bunches to be selected while a subsequent 'full production' system allows the extraction process to reach its highest level. Cambria's past, present and future are embodied in every bottle!
