Pievalta is a young and modern winery in the Castelli di Jesi area, which has become in a few years a virtuous model of biodynamic viticulture in the Marche region and takes its name from the small parish church located at the entrance of the property. The sign was born in 2002 and its history is linked to the emblazoned name of Barone Pizzini: from Franciacorta, the sparkling wine company chooses the territory of Maiolati Spontini, in the province of Ancona, to start a new oenological chapter. The direction of the project is entrusted to Alessandro Fenino, an oenologist who has experienced several vintages in that of Provaglio d'Iseo, flanked by agronomist Pierluigi Donna and oenologist Sergio Paolucci. This new responsibility soon turned into a life choice: Alessandro left his home in Milan to move permanently to the Marche region and imprint this reality with his personal vision, focused on sensitivity to the natural environment. In 2008, he was joined by Silvia Loschi, his colleague in Franciacorta and now his life partner: together they were able to set up a company that also deals with receptivity and connection with the surrounding area.

The Pievalta estate originates from the vineyards acquired in the territory of Maiolati Spontini, a village located on the slopes of Mount Schiavo, a few kilometers southwest of Jesi: the seven individually managed plots are located on clay-limestone soils and are planted with about 14 and a half hectares of Verdicchio and 1.5 hectares of Montepulciano. The vineyards acquired later, all dedicated to Verdicchio, are located on the commune of Montecarotto, 4 and a half hectares of sandstone and clay in two parcels, and along the two opposite slopes of Mount Follonica: a little more than 5 hectares belong to the castle of San Paolo di Jesi, while another 6 hectares, divided into three parcels characterized by steep slopes, belong to the castle of Cupramontana. The soils here are very ancient and owe their origin to marine currents, which deposited large quantities of fossils within layers of marl, sandstone and limestone. Management in the field was immediately based on an organic regime, with a spontaneous move, since 2005, to biodynamic management: in 2008 Pievalta became the first certified biodynamic farm in the Marche region.

Pievalta's labels are basically dedicated to Verdicchio, with which it makes two versions of Classico Superiore, a Riserva Classico and a Metodo Classico sparkling wine. Vinifications are consistent with the care given to the vines, through spontaneous fermentations with only indigenous yeasts and maturation times on fine lees without forcin
