Amaro Ulrich
Amaro Ulrich was created in 1854 from the recipe of Dr Domenico Ulrich and is now reworked by Distilleria Marolo, which wanted to revive a typically Piedmontese product. This label is made from 19 herbs, flowers, fruits and roots including gentian, gentian and aniseed. The deep, dark amber colour fills the glass with a dense mantle while herbaceous and spicy aromas enchant the nose. The taste is soft, enveloping, full, rich and long lasting
Amaro Ulrich is the result of careful research work by the Distilleria Marolo. This family-run business based in Alba has managed to recover and breathe new life into the ancient Ulrich brand. The company was founded by Dr. Domenico Ulrich back in 1854. A passionate botanist and herbalist, he dedicated himself to searching for the best Piedmontese and Italian plants to use for infusions. Thus was born a bitters with a typically territorial face, renewing the tradition of producing herbal elixirs. The choice to present the Amaro in a bottle with a vintage-style label is a tribute to its history and ancient traditions
Ulrich is an Amaro made by one of the most important names in the Piedmont distillers' scene. The Marolo brothers began their activity in the '70s, immediately standing out with labels of traditional character that perfectly reflected the region's tradition. The amaro is still produced today, following to the letter the ancient original recipe, which now forms part of the rich heritage of knowledge and experience of the distillery. There are as many as 19 herbs, plants, roots, and flowers that contribute to creating the expressive harmony of the infusion, among which we remember gentian, genepy, and anise. The processing still follows traditional methods. Long infusions guarantee delicate extractions of the aromatic components, which are then skillfully blended in the final assembly.
Amaro Ulrich is a pleasant discovery. An excellence of our ancient tradition, it is particularly appreciated neat or with ice, but it can also be used in modern mixology to create cocktails or long drinks with an original taste. Visually, it presents a very dark amber color, almost brown, with bright mahogany reflections. The olfactory profile is very rich and intense, characterized by aromas of medicinal herbs, herbs from the alpine flora, hints of soft spices, roots, barks, balsamic notes, and aromatic herbs. On the palate, it is warm and enveloping, with very dense and deep aromas, rich and persistent, that unfold harmoniously towards a long, complex, and slightly bitter finish.
