
Chardonnay Los Vascos 2024
The Chardonnay from the Los Vascos winery is a Chilean white wine perfect for pairing with fish and vegetables, surprising your guests with a bottle that comes from afar. The grapes are carefully selected, and the aging takes place in steel tanks for a few months. The pale yellow color with golden reflections accompanies aromas of ripe fruit and sweet spices. The sip is tasty, dry, soft, and persistent.
The Chardonnay from Los Vascos is produced in Chile, on an estate where wine has been made since the late 18th century, thanks to the work of the Spanish Echenique family. In the period following the appearance of phylloxera in Europe, Chile was considered a good export basin to compensate for the loss of some grape varieties that had been lost. Around 1988, the winery was purchased by the Rothschild-Lafite family, who gave it the current name "Los Vascos" in honor of its Spanish origins. The label features a stylized drawing of the landscape and the building with the expanse of vineyards in front, conveying the beauty of the surrounding nature.
The grapes of Chardonnay from Los Vascos grow a few kilometers from the Pacific Ocean at an altitude of about 130 meters above sea level. The climate is mild with temperatures never excessively high or low, thanks to the influence of sea breezes, and the soil is mainly composed of clay and limestone, resulting in wines with a structured and unique character. The vineyards extend over about 500 hectares, the best of the entire Chilean territory. After harvesting, in the winery, the grapes undergo alcoholic fermentation in steel and then age for several months before bottling.
The Chardonnay from Los Vascos presents itself in the glass with a straw yellow color and golden reflections. On the nose, it releases aromas of ripe fruit, vanilla, and sweet spices that remain intense and persistent for a long time; on the palate, it is full, elegant, and smooth with a long and pleasant final persistence. It is recommended to pair with shellfish and crustaceans, grilled fish, and smoked salmon; interesting also with vegetable-based dishes. A product to be enjoyed for summer barbecues by the sea in the company of friends or for romantic aperitifs with wonderful landscapes and good music.
