"Cotizzino" is a Morellino di Scansano with a fresh and authentic stamp, resulting from a short maturation in cement. Notes of crisp red fruit and red flowers intertwine on a juicy, tannic, and pleasantly rustic structure. A young Tuscan red based on Sangiovese with great expressiveness and personality.

The Morellino di Scansano 'Cotozzino' by Antonio Camillo is the perfect example of how an everyday wine can be juicy, satisfying, and never predictable. It’s easy to say Morellino! A denomination somewhat discredited by productions aimed at quantity rather than quality, and fortunately re-evaluated by those who make wine with passion and dedication. This is the case of Antonio Camillo, a serious producer from Maremma, who after his experience leading Poggio Argentiera decided to take over 9 hectares to enhance the local indigenous grape varieties, particularly the beloved ciliegiolo. Vines aged between 40 and 50 years, and a management that does not involve the use of chemical or systemic substances, are the prelude to an equally traditional approach in the winery. Sincere and fine expressions, where the expression "drinking a territory" takes on a concrete value.

The Cotozzino is a Morellino di Scansano deliberately obtained from pure Sangiovese, although the regulations allow for the addition of a minimal percentage of other red grapes. The vines, which are 15 years old and are located in the municipality of Campagnatico at 250 meters above sea level, resting on clayey soils rich in skeleton. If no substances are used in the vineyard except for a bit of copper and sulfur, and the grapes are harvested by hand, in the winery the process continues with alcoholic fermentation in steel containers and maceration on the skins for 12-15 days. The liquid ages for 6 months in cement and 3 months in bottle.

The Cotozzino wine presents itself in the glass with an intense and lively ruby color. Expressive nose, a true ode to the classicism of Sangiovese, where clear references to blood orange, wild pansy, as well as to the basket of freshly picked berries emerge. Sharp and reactive olfactory profile, and the tasting is no less. The sip is all played on an almost citrus freshness, typical of young Sangiovese, aided by a generous saline contribution and a tannin that sets the rhythm. A splendid and credible example of Morellino di Scansano. Iconic.
