Moscato Passito 'Redento' La Caudrina 2020
The Moscato Passito "Redento" is a sweet wine with a pleasant and soft character, ideal for meditation or paired with blue cheeses, dry pastries, or foie gras. On the nose, it fans out intense and rich notes, reminiscent of dried fruit and sweet spices, with hints of vanilla and sugary tropical fruit. On the palate, it develops a sweet and enveloping sip, with good density and body, and infinite persistence.
The Moscato Passito ‘Redento’ La Caudrina is an enticing and harmonious dessert wine from Piemonte. The history of La Caudrina, a wine estate in the Cuneo area that has significantly contributed to the enhancement of Moscato d’Asti, begins in the 1940s in Castiglione Tinella thanks to Redento Dogliotti, to whom this label pays homage. However, the quality leap occurred in the 1970s with his son Romano, who began to bottle and sell his own Moscato d’Asti independently. Today, the winery is led by the same Romano Dogliotti, alongside his wife Bruna and their children Alessandro, Sergio, and Marco, in a family setting that honors tradition while reinterpreting it with the help of the most modern technologies.
The Caudrina ‘Redento’ Moscato Passito is produced exclusively from Moscato Bianco sourced from vines planted back in 1968. The vineyards, rooted in marl-limestone soils facing southwest, are located 320 meters above sea level. Once harvested, the bunches are left to dry and crushed, with the must placed in steel tanks for controlled temperature alcoholic fermentation. Once the fermentation process is complete, the mass is cleaned and filtered and then transferred to barriques for 18 months of maturation, after which the wine is filtered again and then bottled. After at least 6 months of further aging in glass, the ‘Redento’ is finally ready for market release.
In the glass, the ‘Redento’ Moscato Passito from La Caudrina shows a bright golden yellow color. The aromatic profile carries sweet and intense notes of dried fruit, honey, spices, aromatic herbs, tropical fruit, and vanilla. Soft and smooth taste, with enveloping density and excellent sweetness.
