RECIOTO DELLA VALPOLICELLA CLASSICO QUINTARELLI 2011 DESCRIPTION

Giuseppe Quintarelli's Recioto della Valpolicella Classico originated in the Verona area, specifically in the area of Cerè di Negrar at the foot of Mount Ca' Paletta. The winery was founded in the early 1900s thanks to Silvio Quintarelli's passion for the world of wine. His work and passion will be inherited and perpetuated by his sons and his wife: in 1950 Giuseppe Quintarelli will take over his father's work, carrying out a project to restructure the winery's spaces and increase the size of the estate vineyards, also due to an increased demand for the product. The land is cultivated by following the natural phases of plant growth, according to the method handed down by his father Silvio.

The grapes that make up Giuseppe Quintarelli's Recioto della Valpolicella Classico are the same ones that make up Amarone. The soil that hosts these vineyards is of volcanic origin with limestone sediments, placed in the beating heart of the renowned Valpolicella. Here winters alternate with mild temperatures thanks to the breeze coming from the lake and summers that are neither sultry nor excessively hot, especially in the hilly part. The harvest takes place in the second half of September with well-selected grapes, since Recioto can only be produced in certain vintages: after alcoholic fermentations of about 45 days, it must maintain a good sugar residue. It is aged 4-5 years in oak barrels.

Giuseppe Quintarelli's Recioto della Valpolicella Classico in the glass appears deep garnet red with violet hues; the nose releases aromas of black cherry, cherry and jam. The palate reveals a good structure with persistent tannins with a full-bodied and velvety flavor. It pairs perfectly with dry pastries, spoon desserts made with both dark and milk chocolate and aged cheeses. It is a wine that promises to be an excellent companion on the table of formal occasions, as well as convivial gatherings among friends and at celebrations of special occasions.
