Artisanal
Callmewine's Favourites
Organic and biodynamicRiesling "Rot-Murlé" by Pierre Frick is an exciting portrait of Alsace, vinified with indigenous yeasts and aged in ancient oak barrels for 6 months. It invites exploration by exhibiting a nose combining notes of hydrocarbons, flint, citrus, almond and crisp green apple. Alive and constantly evolving, tasting reveals its chameleon-like nature, first it pervades an intense citric freshness that over time softens and unveils all its nuances.
The Riesling "Rot-Murlé" by Pierre Frick is an emblematic Alsatian white endowed with adamantine purity. It's almost reductive to talk about a basic Riesling when approaching this liquid, so complex and multifaceted. Not for nothing is Pierre Frick one of the masters of French wine, as well as a pioneer of the total conversion of vineyards to biodynamics. Today, thanks to the spread of information and wine fairs, it is more common to encounter producers who choose to follow the Steinerian philosophy, but in 1981 this act was almost considered visionary or risky. Decades later, not only has Pierre's choice proven to be successful, but the bottled liquids are among the most exciting and complex in the region. Unique Pierre!
The "Rot-Murlé" Riesling Frick is obtained from pure grapes of the same name coming from the Krottenfues vineyard, with 13-year-old vines trained using the guyot system. The very low yield, of only 45 hl/ha, favors the qualitative aspect of the fruit as does the manual harvest at perfect ripeness. In the vineyard, as alreadymentioned, the precepts of biodynamics are followed, while in the cellar the alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously. The liquid ages for six months in ancient oak barrels before bottling.
The Riesling Pierre Frick reveals itself in the glass with the typical pale straw color. The nose is the perfect blend of varietal and its area of origin, unfolding in a mix of flint, green apple, citrus peel, and saline notes: intoxicating! Tense and vibrant sip, endowed with an almost moving vitality. Salt and freshness mark the tasting times, for what, despite an important extract, turns out to be a slender and elongated wine. An essential bottle, capable of redefining taste standards. A reference point.
