Rum Bumbu XO is a warm, enveloping rum distilled and aged in Panama in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry white oak barrels. With a full and intense sip that leaves a delicate coffee aftertaste on the long finish, the nose expresses deep notes of caramel and vanilla, accompanied by light spice and a fresh citrus vein. Ideal in most classic rum-based cocktails or to sip after dinner, neat or with an ice cube

The XO Rum from the Caribbean brand Bumbu is a rich and generous rum released in a limited edition after a long aging in different types of oak barrels. In fact, the term “XO” stands for Extra Old, referring to the prolonged maturation period in wood that the distillate undergoes. The Bumbu estate operates in Panama and on the island of Barbados, where the first rums were distilled over 400 years ago. All bottles in the range are adorned with a metal ‘X’ on the front and a map of the Caribbean on the back, while the cork stopper conveys an ancient charm.

Bumbu Rum XO is crafted from the finest sugar cane selected by Bumbu's master distiller. The mature plants are processed to extract the sugary juice, which is then fermented for a few days using yeast strains selected as far back as 1840. The subsequent distillation phase takes place in a continuous double copper still while the following aging occurs initially in barrels previously used for bourbon maturation and then in ex-sherry white oak barrels in a unique and balanced combination. The entire distillation and aging process takes place in the distillery in Panama under the watchful eye of the master distiller.

Bumbu's XO Rum has an intense amber hue with golden highlights. The nose reveals its intoxicating notes of caramel and vanilla that blend with deep spicy and smoky suggestions. Refreshing notes of orange peel contribute to the olfactory balance. Warm and enveloping taste, characterized by slightly spicy returns and hints of coffee on the persistent finish. The producer's advice is to use this rum in classic cocktails like Cuba Libre or Mojito or to enjoy it neat, straight, or with a single ice cube.
