Exclusive wineryThe Vermentino from Gallura Late Harvest 'Kari di Pètra' by Sa Raja is a fine Sardinian white, produced from grapes left on the vine longer than usual. This allows the berries to reach a high concentration of sugars and phenols, thus great structure and intensity in the wine. On the nose, hints of ripe fruit, dried flowers, and even hints of honey are perceived. On the palate, warmth and freshness are felt at the same time, all wrapped in the typical savoriness of a marine wine. The sip is dry and intriguing, to be tried with slightly spicy fish dishes.
The Vermentino di Gallura Vendemmia Tardiva ‘Kari di Pètra’ from the Sardinian winery Saraja represents the expression of a single small vineyard that fascinates with its enveloping richness. The parcel is located between the municipalities of Telti and Calangianus, west of the city of Olbia, in an area with a warm Mediterranean climate characterized by significant temperature variations between day and night, also thanks to the important altitude. This Vermentino aims to express the essence of the territory, through a late harvest aimed at concentrating the flavor and aromatic intensity of the grapes.
The ‘Kari di Pètra’ Saraja Vermentino di Gallura Vendemmia Tardiva is a pure Vermentino from vines about 20 years old, cultivated on soils that are partly sandy and partly clay-sandy of granitic origin, rich in quartz stones. The plants also benefit from an altitude of 500 meters above sea level and excellent southeast exposure. After the harvest, carried out manually at a late stage, the grapes are subjected to a gentle pressing of whole clusters at low temperature, followed by static cold decantation of the must. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks while the subsequent maturation phase occurs for 50% of the mass in lightly toasted tonneau and for the remaining 50% in steel, containers where the wine rests for 12 months, of which 8 spent on the lees, without undergoing malolactic fermentation. This is followed by aging of at least 10 months in bottle before the final release on the market.
The Vermentino di Gallura ‘Kari di Pètra’ Vendemmia Tardiva from Saraja is an intense straw yellow with golden reflections. On the nose, notes of broom, pollen, apricot, dried sage, and acacia honey are perceived. The sip is round and very savory, broad and fresh, characterized by a rich and persistent finish.
