The Amber Vermouth ‘Il Burundese’ from the Italian brand Bottega del Coffeemaker is a flavored wine characterized by pleasant bitter notes typical of vermouth. A fundamental ingredient for ‘Il Burundese’ is the coffee beans from Burundi, which is where the name of the vermouth comes from. These are grown at high altitude, exactly 2,000 meters above sea level, a factor that is the basis for the pronounced acidity and aromaticity of the berries. In fact, the coffee from Burundi benefits from the mountainous morphology of the territory, with coffee production having been encouraged in recent years precisely due to the high quality of the product.
The Amber Vermouth Bottega del Coffeemaker ‘Il Burundese’ is made from a base of Italian wine. This is added with sugar and an infusion obtained from the maceration of various ingredients, including Burundi coffee beans, in an alcoholic solution. After an appropriate maturation period, the vermouth is finally bottled in its distinctive packaging.
dark amber coloration. On the nose, one perceives intoxicating winey and citrus notes, enriched by deep sensations of coffee, caramel, vanilla, and cinnamon. The taste, fresh and structured, surprises with its delicate fragrance that accompanies pleasant bitter notes in a sweet and spicy finish, with long persistence. This Amber Vermouth is exceptionally suited as an aperitif, served chilled and perhaps garnished with an orange peel. However, ‘Il Burundese’ can also be used in mixology to impart its precious aroma of Burundi coffee to classic vermouth-based cocktails, such as Negroni and Americano.
