Whisky Single Malt 'Founder's Reserve' Glenlivet
Perfect to give as a giftWhisky “Founder’s Reserve” by Glenlivet is a harmonic and elegant Single Malt, dedicated to George Smith, founder of the distillery. It reflects the classic style of Speyside, characterized by smoothness, roundness and sweet aromas of honey, fruits, citrus and sweet spices
The “Founder’s Reserve” of Glenlivet is the Single Malt Whisky dedicated to George Smith, founder of the distillery back in 1824 and the creative spirit of Speyside whisky, the first in the region to obtain a production license through the Parliamentary Excise Act, thanks to the intervention of King George V. Today the distillery is one of the most important production realities in Scotland, famous for a classic and unmistakable style, the result of the brilliant insights of the founder, including the use of special lantern stills and aging in first-fill American ex-Bourbon barrels.
The Glenlivet “Founder’s Reserve” whisky is produced in accordance with the production methods inaugurated by George Smith, with the aim of reproducing his ideal of Single Malt, marked by elegance, delicacy, smoothness, and sweet notes. The barley, selected from the fields of Banffshire, is dried without the use of peat, the distillation is achieved with the historic discontinuous lantern stills, designed more than 150 years ago, and the aging is held in first-fill American barrels that previously contained Bourbon. The aging is not stated on the label but it is reasonable to think that it can reach 12 years.
The Glenlivet “Founder’s Reserve” Single Malt Whisky embodies the classic style of Speyside, expressed in terms of delicacy, harmony, and elegance. It presents itself to the eye with a pale and luminous golden color and reveals to the nose sweet and enveloping aromas of white fruit, honey, vanilla, and delicate sweet spices, with hints of candied citrus, toasted almonds, and white pepper. The tasting is fresh, delicate, and vibrant, easy to approach and with great drinking pleasure. The sweet aromas evoke fruit and citrus, with refined vanilla and spicy traces. It is a label with an excellent quality-price ratio, to be enjoyed neat or with a cube of ice, as recommended by Alan Winchester, master distiller of Glenlivet.
