Adriano Marco e Vittorio

Originally from the Alta Langa area, the Adriano family have been farmers since 1900, ever since grandfather Giuseppe started to cultivate the first vineyards. In the 1960s they settled in the area of San Rocco Seno d'Elvio, in the province of Alba, where they still are today. The decision to invest in agriculture, in difficult times when anyone would have chosen the city life with no doubt, was courageous and paid off successfully. In 1994 the modern history of the winery began, with the brothers Vittorio and Marco, together with their wives Grazia and Luciana and the very young and very active Michela, Vittorio's daughter, who is now involved in export management as well as cellar tours. The new generation which is slowly but surely joining the business demonstrates its fertile and dynamic potential for growth, and allows the two brothers to take care of what they are really fond of most: the vineyard. The future of this winery has all the signs of being bright!

The Adriano winery is located in the valley of Seno d'Elvio, which in the local dialect is called 'sanadaive' and gives its name to the Barbaresco wine that is born here. It is in the southernmost part of the denomination, in the close vicinity of the town of Alba, but totally distant from the chaotic atmosphere of the city. The current 30 hectares of property are all in this area. The Mottura and Avoglieri Argantino vineyards are two examples, together with the Basarin vineyard, the only outsider in the municipality of Neive. The Nebbiolo grapes ripen in a truly ideal habitat, where the soils are rich in blue marl, the slopes are steep and the use of herbicides has long been banned.

More than a winery, the Adriano's are first and foremost a family. They are people who represent the truest identity of the people of the Langa, accustomed since the 1990s to carrying things forward with the same care and dedication, accompanied by continuity and a low profile. The vineyards are surrounded by flourishing woods, which are safeguarded by the family as an element of biodiversity and microclimatic strength, and by hazelnut groves, which are also left untouched. Here, in this secluded and less renowned corner of the Langa, you can experience the purest and most traditional Piemontese atmosphere.
