Albana Secco Romagna 'Frangipane' Tenuta La Viola 2024
ArtisanalThe Albana Secco Romagna 'Frangipane' Tenuta La Viola is a fresh and genuine white wine produced in Romagna by a family-run winery that has always believed in organic farming, obtaining certification in 1999. The Albana is the main grape variety vinified by the winery, and here it finds a young and dynamic expression, with a refreshing and drinkable sip well balanced by a pleasant sapid vein, while on the nose it expresses delicate notes of white flowers and yellow-fleshed fruit, surrounded by citrus and mineral hints.
The Romagna Albana Secco ‘Frangipane’ from the wine estate Tenuta La Viola is a white wine resulting from a sustainable production approach that stands out for its lively fresh-salty component. This bottle testifies to the past of Tenuta La Viola, a past in which Albana was the main grape variety vinified by the winery. The name ‘Frangipane’ pays homage to Alruda Frangipane, Countess of Bertinoro, who in 1173 contributed with her army to liberate Ancona from the siege of the German troops of Emperor Frederick Barbarossa.
Tenuta La Viola Albana Secco Romagna ‘Frangipane’ is produced with only Albana grapes coming from a vineyard owned located in the San Martino area, cultivated following the principles of certified organic farming. Here, the altitude is between 100 and 200 meters above sea level while the soils are mainly composed of clay and limestone. The harvest is carried out manually in the first days of September, with a careful selection of the grapes in the field, and is followed by the soft pressing of the bunches. The must obtained is conveyed into stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature entrusted exclusively to indigenous yeasts. The subsequent maturation phase takes place always in steel on the fine lees for 4-5 months, followed by at least one month of resting in the bottle before being released on the market.
The ‘Frangipane’ Romagna Albana Secco from Tenuta La Viola has a bright straw yellow color. On the nose, inviting aromas of white-fleshed fruit, citrus, and aromatic herbs are perceived, blending with subtle floral hints, fresh mineral notes, and light almond notes. Dynamic, balanced, and vibrant the tasting, characterized by excellent freshness and a pronounced salty signature.
