Amaro 'Centum Herbis' Bordiga
The Amaro Centum Herbis of the historic Bordiga craft distillery takes its name from the countless types of botanicals used to make it. The strong point of this label is certainly that the precious spices, herbs and flowers coming for the most part from the Maritime Alps are still selected by hand and dried in the open air. The amber colour illuminates the eye, while articulate and complex aromas enchant the nose. The taste is soft, silky, enveloping, with a long, bitter finish
The Amaro "Centum Herbis" Bordiga is the result of a long history, which begins with the first elixirs of long life from supposed medicinal or simply digestive powers, which since antiquity have been created by flavoring alcoholic beverages with spices and herbs. This ancient Piedmontese company, founded at the end of the 19th century, has revived the tradition, based on the experience of the inhabitants of the Occitan Valleys, who have always gathered herbs knowing their properties. The making of the amaro still follows a secret recipe, jealously guarded, which gives us flavors and aromas of an ancient past, ever current and still fascinating.
"Centum Herbis" is an Amaro from Bordiga that comes from careful research, the result of a deep herbal culture. The botanicals mostly come from the Maritime Alps area, which combines and synthesizes the characteristics of a mountainous environment with a view of the Mediterranean Sea, its scents and aromas. To these are added the spices, which help enrich and make the aromatic palette more complex. The processing follows an ancient recipe based on the experience of past generations. The individual botanicals are infused in alcohol and, thanks to a patient and long maceration, release all the essences and aromatic substances. Once this phase is completed, the final assembly is created with the addition of a bit of sugar to counteract the bitter tendency of some herbs.
The Amaro "Centum Herbis" Bordiga presents itself with an amber color with bright reflections, with an appearance that highlights its dense character. On the nose, it immediately shows an extraordinary richness and intensity with a bouquet of concentrated and very complex aromas, reminiscent of the great herbal elixirs of ancient monastic tradition. The aromatic spectrum is characterized by notes of medicinal and officinal herbs, flowers and spontaneous plants of the alpine flora, intense sensations of soft spices, roots and barks, balsamic hints, fragrances of candied orange peel and bergamot. The sip is broad, satisfying and enveloping, warm and long, it unfolds harmoniously towards a very persistent finish that returns to pleasant balsamic freshness.
