'Amrità' Schiopetto 2022
"L'Amrità" from the well-known Schiopetto winery is a white Friulian wine of great class and elegance, perfect for special occasions or gifts for enthusiasts. This label is made with Chardonnay and Friulano grapes carefully selected by hand and aged for 9 months in steel and wood, ending with 6 months of rest in bottle. The bright straw yellow colour dresses the glass with greenish reflections while the nose is intoxicated by ripe fruit and medicinal herbs. The taste is soft, rich, dynamic and of ample length.
“Amrità” from the Schiopetto winery represents the pinnacle of production from this now historic Friulian reality, and it is no surprise that it is the label dedicated to the founder, Mario: an extraordinary character in the history of Italian wine since the late Sixties, when he became part of the group of great entrepreneurs who revolutionized and revived the fortunes of Italian viticulture. A perfect synthesis of expressiveness and aromatic complexity, “A”, as it is called in the winery, first saw the light with the 2020 vintage.
“Amrità” by Schiopetto is made through a blend predominantly of Chardonnay with a minimal percentage of Friulano. The grapes come from one of the most recent acquisitions: the Podere dei Blumeri became part of the family properties in 1996 and is located in the area of the Colli Orientali. Spanning an area of 8 hectares, it is the plot from which the grapes for the house's reds normally come, but where old vines of the international white grape and the native symbol of the region are also planted.also old vines of the international white grape and the native symbol of the region. The soil is composite and characterized by a stratification, technically referred to as flysch, of marl, sandstone, and clays, formed during the geological period of the Eocene and locally called ponka. The harvest generally takes place at the beginning of September and is carried out manually, with selection of the bunches and transport in small crates. The spontaneous alcoholic fermentation is conducted by indigenous yeasts, carried out in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature for a duration of about 14 days. The subsequent aging takes place in steel and large oak barrels, for a period of 9 months, with a final refinement of 6 months in bottle.
an enveloping and aristocratic finish on almond notes. The bitter sensations reappear on the palate, introducing a mineral part that is as important as it is elegant. The sip is multifaceted, with a rich structure and excellent balance between a part of glyceric softness and a part of dynamic freshness, with a decidedly persistent finish.
