The Barbera ‘Casaret’ from the Langhe winery Marziano Abbona is a bottle with a fresh and lively spirit that highlights the more accessible aspect of this black grape variety native to Lower Piemonte. In fact, Barbera is a variety endowed with remarkable oenological versatility as it can give rise to both youthful and convivial expressions like the ‘Cesaret’, perfect for being enjoyed in everyday life, as well as red wines of great structure that lend themselves to long aging. The ‘Cesaret’ was produced for the first time with the 1990 vintage.
Marziano Abbona Barbera ‘Cesaret’ is made from only Barbera grapes grown within the municipality of Dogliani in a vineyard of about 20 years of average age adjacent to the winery. Following the harvest, the grapes undergo the operation of destemming-crushing followed by the spontaneous alcoholic fermentation of the must thanks to the presence of only indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks in contact with the skins and at controlled temperature.Controlled. The subsequent malolactic fermentation and maturation phase always take place in steel and the mass is finally bottled only with a cold stabilization, which avoids the use of clarification products, and a light filtration. After a further short period of rest in glass, the wine is finally ready for release on the market.
Visually, the ‘Cesaret’ Barbera from Marziano Abbona presents itself with a ruby red color with purple hues. On the nose, vivid aromas of red fruits are perceived, with a finish that recalls vanilla and spices. A light and balanced sip, with a beautiful personality and versatility, endowed with lively freshness and soft tannins that contribute to the great smoothness of the tasting.
