The “Lo Camin de Lumet” from Domaine La Coume-Lumet is an intense white from Languedoc, produced from grapes grown on limestone soils, responsible for the great aromaticity found in the glass. On the nose, fruity aromas of pear and lemon dominate, accompanied by delicate hints of acacia flowers and, in the finish, notes of baking, like freshly baked brioche. On the palate, the same aromatic complexity reappears, with great persistence, and the sip is dynamic but fresh and balanced, an ideal wine to pair with fish dishes with rich sauces, like sole meunière

“Lo Camin de Lumet” by Domaine La Coume-Lumet well describes one of the essences of the territory from which it originates, namely the light that floods the rocky undulations of this corner of France that looks towards the Pyrenees and Spain. The winery has a recent foundation, established in these lands after long searches for the perfect terroir.

“Lo Camin de Lumet” is one of the interpretations that Domaine La Coume-Lumet makes by vinifying in equal parts the Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc grapes present in the property of the village of Cepie, in the deep Occitan territory, a few dozen kilometers south of Carcassonne. The vineyard extends as a single body over 17 hectares, divided into parcels of different varieties, along the slopes that descend towards the valley of the Aude, the river that gives its name to the homonymous department. At an altitude of 350 meters above sea level, in a typically Mediterranean climate but with Atlantic influences, the rows are exposed fully to the south and rooted above soils originating from ancient glacial moraines, scattered with pebbles of clay-limestone nature and of sands from crushed rocks. The management of the vineyard follows the principles of reasoned fighting and the harvest is done by hand, after a slow and gradual ripening of the fruits. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel containers by means of indigenous yeasts, while aging lasts about 5 months, partly in steel and partly in small oak barrels. Bottling does not involve invasive manipulations and an absolutely limited use of sulfites.

“Lo Camin de Lumet” from Domaine La Coume-Lumet presents a bright appearance and a color shifting to straw yellow, with golden reflections. The aromas have a decisive impact on the sugary notes of ripe pear and acacia flowers, with penetrating hints of lemon zest, within a frame of brioche aromas. The sip is broad and tremendously rich in substance, enlivened by a tense freshness and with intense mineral hints, in a balance of long persistence. The structured character of this white from the Southwest makes it a appreciated companion to roasted fish dishes or medium-aged cheeses.
