The Extra Brut Premier Cru “Le Cran” Bérèche et Fils is a Champagne that comes from two of the best parcels of the nearly 10 hectares that make up the estate of the maison. A label in which the pH is very low, thus guaranteeing an excellent aging capacity as noted from the vintage that is still fresh and dynamic despite several years having passed since the harvest. An important Champagne, of excellent craftsmanship, aged in wood and subjected to a long maturation period: to be reserved for special evenings, when one is in the company of connoisseurs or wants to celebrate a special event.
The “Le Cran” is an Extra Brut Champagne that the Bérèche et Fils winery produces by blending 40% Pinot Noir with 60% Chardonnay. The vines grow in two old vineyards classified as Premier Cru in the Ludes area, the Cran and St. Jean, characterized by a subsoil rich in gypsum. In the vineyard, no systemic treatments are carried out, and neither herbicides nor chemical fertilizers are used. The must obtained from the pressing of the grapes ferments slowly in oak barrels, then referments directly in the bottle, following the production principles of the Méthode Champenoise. The Champagne remains to age on the lees for a total of 84 months, after which the disgorging and dosage operations are carried out.
The “Le Cran” Extra Brut Premier Cru Champagne from Bérèche et Fils presents itself visually with a golden yellow color, crossed by fine bubbles, with excellent persistence. The nose is always evolving, opening with fruity notes, then shifting towards more herbaceous sensations and balsamic nuances. Excellent structure on the palate, rich and silky, complex, tactile, with a sip that unfolds with freshness, highlighting a pleasant citrus flavor. A label of which the maison is particularly proud, capable over the years of obtaining important scores at the international critic level, a well-deserved recognition of the work done by the young brothers Raphael and Vincent Bérèche both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
