Chardonnay 'Blanc' Tenuta Mazzolino 2023
The “Blanc” by Mazzolino is a Chardonnay vinified and aged in small French barrels, with an elegant, soft and deep profile inspired by Burgundy. It emanates aromas of yellow fruit and citrus zest that blend into light nuances of butter, vanilla and dried fruit. On the palate it is round, balanced, with lively freshness and beautiful savoriness, with a long persistence
The Chardonnay “Blanc” is a wine with which Tenuta Mazzolino gives us a glimpse of a bit of French Burgundy within the Oltrepò Pavese. The reference to the great whites from across the Alps is clear, a source of inspiration for the creation of this label, where the varietal aromas on the nose are enriched by the typical tertiary woody notes, resulting from the maturation period spent in wood. A bottle in which the sapidity skillfully merges with a lively and intense freshness, giving rise to a persistent drink, capable of evolving over the next four or five years.
This “Blanc” is made from Chardonnay grapes that Tenuta Mazzolino cultivates in a vineyard of 2.5 hectares, facing north and northeast. Here, at about 180-220 meters above sea level, the vines grow using the simple guyot system, rooting in a subsoil mainly composed of clay and silt, with sandier veins and a chalky substrate. The manual harvest selects the best bunches, which after destemming proceed to the pressing phase. The must ferments in Burgundy oak barrels for about 12 days. The final aging lasts for 10 months and takes place in small French oak barrels.
The Chardonnay “Blanc” presents itself with a typically straw-yellow color, very bright. The nose is broad and layered, where harmony reigns between the diversity of aromas perceived, from yellow-fleshed fruit to more floral notes, reaching up to more toasted and woody nuances. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with a full sip, characterized by a savory and fresh taste; it finishes with an excellent persistent finale. A rich and deep label signed by Tenuta Mazzolino, which boasts an excellent gastronomic predisposition, thus establishing itself as a trusted ally of the table.
