Lugana Santa Cristina - Zenato 2023

The Santa Cristina is a Lugana in purity coming from the Podere Massoni, historical vineyard of the Zenato winery. With a beautiful straw-yellow colour, it grants mineral and fruity aromas with citrus and buttery hints. Lugana "Santa Cristina" is the result of research work by the Zenato Winery to produce a pure Trebbiano di Lugana, aged only in stainless steel, with good structure and great varietal character. For the production of this label, only grapes from the historic Podere Massoni vineyard in Peschiera del Garda are used, which every year guarantees an optimal level of ripeness of the grapes, with rich and intense aromatic profiles.

Zenato "Santa Cristina" is the fruit of old vines over 50 years old, cultivated on the prized clayey soils of the southern area of Lake Garda. The vineyard's splendid south-facing exposure and the mild climate of this little corner of the Mediterranean, magically located between Brescia and Verona, provide grapes of excellent quality with extraordinary ripeness and richness. At the end of the harvest, which usually takes place towards the end of September, the grapes are softly pressed and the must is fermented at a controlled temperature of 16-18 °C, in steel tanks, for a duration of about 15/20 days. The wine matures again in steel tanks for about 4/5 months and ends its ageing with a few months in the bottle.

In the glass, the 'Santa Cristina' wine expresses all its personality and fruity richness, with ripe notes and intact freshness. It has a straw-yellow colour with faint greenish reflections. The bouquet is striking in its intensity and complexity, with citrus, floral and tropical fruit notes. The sip is lively and refreshing, with crisp fruit that stretches rich and persistent towards a pleasantly savoury finale. On the table it goes best with lake fish and more generally with seafood cuisine.
