Nascetta 'La Regina' Braida 2024
Unusual grapesNascetta "La Regina" by Braida is a white wine markedly mineral that unfolds its most intrinsic nuances over time, arriving at a significant aromatic profile, comparable to the most relevant interpretations of a Rheinish style. Citrus, honey, and hay notes on the nose anticipate a sip well balanced between freshness and salinity.
The white wine from Piemonte, Nascetta “La Regina”, is born from a brilliant intuition of the Braida winery, a reference name for regional enology. Nascetta is indeed a semi-aromatic indigenous grape variety that Braida decided to bet on starting from 1990, proving to be forward-thinking in the cultivation of little marketed grape varieties. “La Regina” is a bottle that moves on a pronounced minerality, enveloping the nose and mouth with well-defined aromas and flavors. A label that is ideal for aperitif time, especially paired with raw fish dishes.
“La Regina” is a Nascetta that comes from the homonymous grapes, cultivated in vineyards that have an average age of about 25 years. The bunches, hand-picked during the harvest phase, once brought to the designated areas for winemaking at the Braida winery, are destemmed. The grapes are then pressed, and the must obtained from this operation ferments in stainless steel containers at controlled temperature. Finally, the aging phase is carried out, in which the wine remains to stabilize for a few months, until the bottling and marketing operations begin.
refinement, in which the wine remains to stabilize for a few months, until the bottling and marketing operations begin. The “La Regina” Nascetta presents itself visually with a typically straw yellow color. The aromas on the nose abound, highlighting a range of varied notes where honey, white-fleshed fruit, mineral nuances, and more vegetal hints alternate with order and linearity. On the palate, it is light-bodied, slender, and easy to drink, characterized by a savory and refreshing sip, which in the finish presents light citrusy flavor returns. A bottle with which Braida masterfully interprets a lesser-known indigenous grape from Piemonte, but which thanks to the work of careful wineries is increasingly being rediscovered.
