POMINO BIANCO FRESCOBALDI 2023 DESCRIPTION

The Pomino Bianco from the celebrated Tuscan winery Frescobaldi is a bottle with a refreshing and balanced drinkability, made through a brief passage in barrique for a small part of the mass. This label is produced in Castello Pomino, hence the name, a magnificent estate located at the foot of the Florentine mountains and surrounded by redwood, fir and chestnut forests. The castle's origins date back to the 1500s, and this area has been known since antiquity for its remarkable wine-growing vocation, as witnessed by the fact that Cosimo de' Medici listed it as one of Tuscany's four outstanding wine-producing areas, alongside Chianti, Carmignano and Val d'Arno di Sopra.
Frescobaldi Pomino Bianco is made from a blend of mainly Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco, to which a small percentage of complementary varieties is added. These vines are trained using the guyot method on particularly well-drained sandy soils. The grapes are gently pressed, limiting contact with oxygen as much as possible, and the must is then vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with a small portion fermenting in French oak barriques. After a short period of maturation in the same types of containers, the masses are blended and bottled.
The colour of Pomino Bianco di Frescobaldi is a brilliant straw yellow. The nose reveals intense aromas of white-fleshed fruit and citrus fruits such as apple, peach, pear and citron, accompanied by floral notes of wisteria, camomile and broom. Mineral, herbaceous and exotic fruit hints complete the olfactory context. The balance on the palate is excellent, where the enveloping softness and the tense fresh-savoury thrust coexist in harmony.
