Tenuta di Trinoro 2015
Rare wines
Perfect to give as a giftThe Tenuta di Trinoro is perhaps the most successful expression of Supertuscan based on Bordeaux grapes that is vinified in Italy. it is very complex: a ruby dress of very dense color is the preamble of a multifaceted and kaleidoscopic nose that veers between red fruit, crunchy plums in particular and sharp aromatic scents that swirl among laurel, Mediterranean scrub, juniper and dried flowers. The sip is physically a brushstroke, accompanied by defined tannins and full softness, with a freshness that tastes of bitter oranges.
Tenuta di Trinoro is a wine with mythological traits, for collectors for those who love to invest in a high-level winery or for a memorable drink for those who want to indulge in the luxury of an unforgettable bottle right away. We are faced with one of the highest examples of “Supertuscan”, that is those blends made from the typical international grape varieties of the French Bordeaux area, never made in Italy. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Sauvignon make us dream, building an immense olfactory bouquet, within which it is possible to find dozens of different nuances, from plum to bay leaf, from blueberry to Mediterranean scrub. A label that is born every year from the inspiration of Andrea Franchetti, and that does not therefore follow a predetermined recipe, trusting the sensations of the just-passed vintage in the vineyard. The pleasure of improvisation has never been so perfect.
This Tenuta di Trinoro originates from a blend that follows the trend of Bordeaux-style blends that are often easy to find in Tuscany. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc are combined in different percentages and grow in soils characterized by a clayey subsoil, with thinner areas where quartz and limestone can be found. The harvest, strictly manual, selects only the best bunches that have reached perfect ripeness, which, once brought to the facilities dedicated to winemaking, are destemmed. The must obtained from the soft pressing of the grapes ferments for 12 days in stainless steel tanks. It then undergoes aging, during which the wine remains first for 8 months in French oak barriques, and then, for another 11 months, in cement tanks.
The red wine Tenuta di Trinoro presents itself to the eye with a color reminiscent of ruby, very concentrated, crossed by light shades tending more towards garnet visible at the rim. The nose opens up to a range of fruity notes, which gradually give way to light hints of dried flowers and aromatic herbs. On the palate, it is nothing short of sublime, full-bodied, dense and concentrated, with a sip of pleasant freshness, flowing thanks to a finely worked tannin. A label with which Tenuta di Trinoro strikes at the heart of the main industry critics, unanimous in assigning it dizzying scores, projecting it into the Olympus of the greatest Italian Supertuscans.
