Valpolicella 'Morandina' Prà 2023
The Valpolicella "Morandina" from the Prà winery is a Veronese red wine made from Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Oseleta, aged for a short period in large oak barrels. It is dressed in brilliant ruby red with violet hues and has aromas of wild berries, currants, and mixed spices, with hints of mineral notes. On the palate, it is very fresh and drinkable, with fine tannins and balancing softness, and a persistent finish of black pepper.
The Valpolicella "Morandina" by Prà is a red typical of the territory from which it comes, an expression of native grape varieties crafted with skilled craftsmanship. We are faced with a harmonious label, where in a mineral olfactory background we find clear hints of spices and small forest fruits, a prelude to a fresh sip, with marked drinkability. A label that testifies how the winery is able to transition from more demanding products to lighter and carefree reds, always ensuring an excellent quality standard.
The "Morandina" Valpolicella by Prà originates from a classic blend of the territory, where we find Corvina, Rondinella, Oseleta, and Corvinone in different percentages. These varieties grow in different plots located at an altitude of 450 meters above sea level and facing southeast, in a glacial origin terroir. After the manual harvest in mid-October, the bunches are dried for about twenty days. Once the destemming is completed, the must ferments in steel, also undergoing malolactic fermentation.
Then we proceed with a brief final aging in oak barrels with a capacity of 20 hectoliters.
The "Morandina" Prà presents itself with a ruby red color, adorned with edges that tend more towards violet. The olfactory spectrum is orchestrated on wild berries, enriched by more spicy touches and mineral hints, more evident at the end of the olfactory analysis. On the palate, it is light-bodied and smooth, with a fresh and savory texture, which at the end reveals a perfect taste-olfactory balance with the fruity and spicy notes already perceived on the nose. A versatile label at the table, which not only pairs well with cold cuts and cured meats, but should also be tried in a more original way, with a seared tuna steak: the result will surprise you!
