The Cygnus is a Sicilian red wine that is fruity, soft, and round, made from Nero d'Avola and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in barriques for 14 months. Blackberries, cherries, flowers, berries, sweet spices, and tobacco enliven a rich and vigorous sip, with good and balanced aromatic intensity.
Tenuta Regaleali Tasca d’Almerita ‘Cygnus’ is a red wine skilled in combining the Mediterranean warmth of Nero d’Avola and the peculiar character of Cabernet Sauvignon, in a rich and harmonious marriage. This label represents a tribute to Richard Wagner, the German composer who completed the third act of the opera “Parsifal” in 1881 in the garden of villa Tasca in Palermo, inspired by the swans that lived in the internal pond of the estate.
The ‘Cygnus’ Tenuta Regaleali by Tasca d’Almerita comes from a blend of Nero d’Avola (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (40%), varieties grown on trellises in the high hills at an altitude between 450 and 900 meters above sea level. The grapes undergo a classic red vinification with controlled temperature alcoholic fermentation, two weeks of skin maceration, and complete malolactic fermentation. After the fermentation processes are completed, the wine spends about 14 months aging in French oak barriques from Allier and Tronçais of 225 liters, with 30% new and 70% second and third passage.
