Perfect to give as a giftThe Passito di Pantelleria “Nes” by Pellegrino is a sweet passito wine that is very intense and characteristic, vinified and matured only in steel. It emanates very rich and intense aromas of dried apricot, candied citrus, honey, and much more. On the palate it is dense, powerful, sweet, and enveloping, endowed with sapidity and a very long persistence
The Passito Naturale di Pantelleria “Nes” by Pellegrino is a dessert wine made from the grapes of the Zibibbo or Moscato d’Alessandria variety, grown on the volcanic soils of the island of Pantelleria. The extraordinary aromatic richness of the grapes, which during sun drying concentrate aromas and sugars, allows for the creation of a nectar that expresses aromas of ripe fruit, honey, candied fruit, and dried fruit. This is one of the most famous Passito wines of our peninsula, particularly suitable to be enjoyed with the specialties of Sicilian pastry, with almond paste or with a platter of long-aged, very flavorful or blue cheeses.
The wine “Nes” is one of the most prestigious labels of the Sicilian winery Pellegrino, which on the small volcanic island of Pantelleria manages more than half of the grapes from local small producers. In addition to the historic estate in Marsala and the presence in Pantelleria, Pellegrino owns several estates in the western area of Sicily. The remarkable availability of soils with different pedoclimatic characteristics, allows for the cultivation of each variety in the most suitable place. Pellegrino has always worked on enhancing the indigenous grape varieties, a true great heritage of Sicily, in order to give the wines a character that is typically territorial. The range of wines is very wide and highlights a style that primarily seeks pleasantness and ease of drinking.
The Passito Naturale “Nes” from the Sicilian winery Pellegrino is the result of the best bunches from the bush-trained Zibibbo vines. At the end of the harvest, the bunches are laid out on racks to dry, so they dehydrate concentrating the sugars and other components of the berry. Fermentation takes place very slowly in steel tanks. Before bottling, the wine matures for about 10 months in steel tanks. The Passito presents itself with an amber color and bright antique gold reflections. On the nose, it offers aromas of orange peel, ripe yellow fruit, candied fruit, dehydrated apricot, tropical hints, nuances of honey, of dates and dried fruit. The sip is rich and intense, sweet and soft, with a balanced finish of great complexity and taste persistence.
