Petritegi's Sidra Natural is an apple cider, the result of a meticulous selection of the best native apples of the Basque Country: Txalaka, Goikoetxea, Urtebi Haundi, Moko, Gezamina and Urtebi Txiki. Slightly cloudy and pleasantly fresh, it presents fruity aromas of apple, apricot and lemon that give this cider a perfect balance of sensations
Petritegi Natural Cider is a Spanish apple cider with a balanced and pleasantly bitter taste, produced in the Basque Country using traditional methods. The history of the Petritegi cider house began 500 years ago with Petri De Igeldo, known as Pedro, a citizen of San Sebastian who had the structure still used for cider production built. Not surprisingly, the name Petritegi means "Petri's house". Over the centuries, different families passed through the ownership, until the early 1900s, when the great-great-grandfather of the current owners, Agapito Goikoetxea, purchased the farm, continuing the cider tradition, a tradition still carried on today by his descendants, the Otaño family.
Petritegi Natural Cider originates from apples grown in the Basque Country under the quality label of the Euskal Sagardoa designation of origin. These are apples of the native varieties Txalaka, Goikoexte, Urtebi Haundi, Moko, Gezamina, and Urtebi Txiki, carefully selected and harvested early in orchards cultivated sustainably. The fermentation of the apple juice is entrusted to the indigenous yeasts of the Urtebi Haundi variety, and the cider is finally bottled without filtration and without any added sulphur.
Petritegi Natural Cider is straw-yellow in color with a slight cloudiness due to the absence of filtration and a balanced presence of natural effervescence. Intense aromas of green apple that characterize the scent are followed by hints of fresh fruit such as apricot and citrus, enriched by notes of eucalyptus. The taste is balanced and refreshing, with a subtle and pleasant bitterness on the finish that contributes to making this cider a slightly alcoholic beverage very suitable for accompanying a meal, especially paired with fresh cheeses or seafood appetizers.
