The Nero d'Avola by Morgante is a Sicilian red wine characterized by intensity, balance and fullness of fruit, aged for several months in barrique. The pleasant bouquet offers interesting notes of blackberries, black cherries and black pepper. The sip is warm, harmonious and flowing, animated by a good freshness
Morgante's Nero d'Avola is a traditional version of Sicily's most typical red wine. Originally from the south-eastern part of the island, this grape variety is now cultivated throughout the region. In the hinterland of Agrigento, it has found a very favorable habitat to express itself in excellent quality, combining fruity and aromatic richness. The excellent quality of the grapes and the well-adapted vinification and aging allow the best varietal characteristics of the typical aromas of Nero d'Avola to be preserved. An elegant, flowing red wine, with a pleasantly immediate and satisfying sip.
Morgante's Nero d'Avola red wine shines in the hilly region of Grotte. The estate extends over a total area of 200 hectares, of which around a third is dedicated to viticulture and planted exclusively with nero d'avola. Thanks to the mild, airy climate and suitable soils, this variety produces grapes that are perfectly ripe and rich in aroma. The nero d'avola vines are grown in hilly areas at an altitude of 450-550 meters above sea level, on moderately heavy soils with calcareous clays. The grapes are harvested in the first half of September and vinified in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26-28°C with a two-week maceration on the skins. The wine is aged for around 6 months in French Allier and Tronçais oak barrels, and refined in bottle for a few months.
Domaine Morgante's Nero d'Avola is a young, modern take on the iconic Sicilian oenology wine. Far from the dense, concentrated interpretations of the past, it reveals a refined and parfumed personality. At first glance, it is a dark ruby color with violet highlights. The nose is marked by aromas of black berries, reminiscences of Mediterranean maquis herbs and delicate oriental spices. Medium-bodied, it has a velvety, ripe tannic structure, with rich, juicy fruit aromas that give a harmonious, elegant sip. The finish is marked by fresh, spicy notes.
