CHIANTI CLASSICO 'PEPPOLI' ANTINORI 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Chianti Classico Peppoli, a splendid expression of vineyards located in the heart of the appellation, is a blend of freshness and envelopment. The specific vocation of its place of origin and the intelligent balance between respect for tradition and modern practices have allowed it, since 1985, to give life to a wine that has become a benchmark in its category. It is, therefore, a symbolic expression, a flag in the world of Chianti, a great representation from which many producers have drawn and continue to draw inspiration. Antinori is undoubtedly one of the most well-known and appreciated entities in the world of wine. In addition to boasting a long history and presenting symbolic and exemplary labels each year, such as this Peppoli, it has opened the doors to the success of Tuscan wines by producing high-quality bottles. These are expressions deeply rooted in the territory, with a Tuscan flavour, resulting from research, tradition, and passion that can reveal the "Tuscan-ness" of the Antinori family in a sip.

The Peppoli by Antinori comes from the estate of the same name, known for the particular richness of minerals in the soil, located about 5 km from the prestigious Tignanello vineyard. We are in an enchanted area, a natural amphitheatre, where marine breezes polish the Tuscan valleys. With all these premises, a unique and unforgettable expression could not fail to be born: the Antinori-branded Peppoli. The blend is mostly produced from Sangiovese, with the remainder divided between Syrah and Merlot, which contribute a spicy and luscious character and softness to the wine. Sangiovese macerates for 10 days in steel, while the French varieties remain in contact with the skins for a longer period. After carefully extracting the softest tannins and separating the malolactic fermentation for all three grape varieties, the potential wine is blended and aged in wood. Ageing may involve using only large oak barrels from Slavonia or using barriques, depending on the vintage.

The Chianti Peppoli intrigues with its ruby colour bordered by violet reflections. The first sniff reveals its richness, alternating between juicy red fruit, such as cherries and raspberries, and floral notes of violet, typical of Sangiovese. The picture is completed by toasty nuances from the wood ageing, perfectly integrated. The entry on the palate is savoury and delicate, thanks to gentle tannins and a good contribution of freshness and sapidity. Its gastronomic nature pairs well with pasta dishes with meat sauces, medium-aged cheeses, and soups. It is a daily wine not to be missed for its ability to combine typicality and extreme pleasantness.
