Emidio Pepe winery was founded in the late nineteenth century, when Emidio Pepe, grandfather of the current owner, found in the toranesi hills the ideal terroir for the two main varieties of Abruzzo: Trebbiano and Montepulciano. Already in 1944 his son Giuseppe was known throughout the area for the quality of his wine. Twenty years later it was his grandson, Emidio, inherit the earth and the knowledge to elevate the Trebbiano and Montepulciano to the test bottle. Since 1964, Pepe winery has become a symbol of longevity, and spatial expression thanks to the passion and love of Emidio and his wife Rosa. Over the years he has kept a family, never forgetting the traditions and know-how of the past. For some time, even the daughters Daniela and Sofia, with the help of his niece Chiara, are putting into practice the secrets learned by parents to preserve the wine heritage of the company, following the biological method even before this was certified by a stamp institutional or become a fad. Today, the company has gradually increased from organic to biodynamic: Emidio, thanks to 50 years of harvest behind, was able to adjust in a perfect plant nutrition, soil and vegetation pruning of the vines, limiting any type of intervention in the vineyard and in the cellar. Do not use any systemic product, do not use selected yeasts to start the alcoholic fermentation and do not add enzymes to facilitate the genesis of perfumes. Both in the vineyard and in the cellar, in fact, whe winery use only natural products such as crystals of copper, sulfur mine and biodynamic preparations. This is the philosophy that the family Pepe apply step by step in the process that leads to the production of wine. Emidio Pepe is a great family business, which over the years has been able to maintain a constant quality production, able over the years to return terroir, climate and culture through the personality of its wines.
