BAROLO ELIO ALTARE 2019 DESCRIPTION

Elio Altare's Barolo represents a real calling card for the winery. It is a label that symbolises the desire to preserve the roots of the territory's tradition, but at the same time to experiment and innovate. It is a classic version of Barolo, made according to ancient custom, with grapes from different areas of the denomination, in order to achieve a particularly harmonious end result. Contrary to the customs of the Langhe, the ageing process does not take place in large barrels, but in barriques, which allow the wine to mature more quickly and make it more ready and enjoyable right from the start.

Elio Altare Barolo was born in one of the most famous and quoted wineries in La Morra. Elio Altare is the symbol of a Barolo capable of combining tradition and innovation to produce great wines characterised by a unique style. The customs of the Langhe are combined in his labels with an extraordinary wine culture and a passion for Burgundy. The Nebbiolo grapes come from the estate's best vineyards, which have an average age of 20-30 years and are cultivated with prevalent south, south-east exposures in the communal territories of La Morra, Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d'Alba and Barolo. After the harvest, the different plots are vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel rotofermenters, with 4-5 days' contact with the skins. The wine matures for 24 months in used French oak barriques and completes its maturation in the bottle.

Every year, Barolo Elio Altare wine confirms that it has reached a very high standard of quality and that it is one of the reference labels for all lovers of the Langhe. In the goblet, it is bright ruby red in colour with light garnet reflections. Elegant and intense, it offers notes of red berry fruit, morello cherry, currant, raspberry, cherry, floral nuances of violet, delicate hints of soft spices, officinal herbs and liquorice root. The palate has an important structure, with a dense and ripe tannic texture, well integrated with the body of the wine. The aromas are rich, complex, deep and lead towards a very persistent finish, characterised by a pleasant freshness.
