FRAPPATO ARIANNA OCCHIPINTI 2021 DESCRIPTION

Arianna Occhipinti's Frappato is a national excellence. It is one of the most famous Sicilian labels ever and most appreciated by wine lovers and critics alike for its very high level of quality. The artisanal work conducted with great passion and a terroir in which this native grape variety expresses itself wonderfully, give a light, fragrant and fruity red, all played on the finesse and elegance of floral scents and aromas of raspberry, currant and morello cherry. Its smooth, agile sip makes it ideal for accompanying savory first courses or roasted or spit-roasted white meat dishes.

Arianna Occhipinti's Frappato wine is a great red from the territory, born out of a desire to produce straightforward wines in the most natural way possible. The estate is located near Vittoria, and the 30 hectares of vineyards are managed with extreme care, following the principles of organic farming. The wine is made from grapes from vineyards about 40 years old, located at an altitude of 280 meters above sea level, in an area with a warm, dry, typically Mediterranean climate. The vines are grown partly according to the ancient "alberello" method and partly as espaliers, on sandy soils resting on deep substrates of a calcareous nature. Harvesting takes place in the first weeks of October. The grapes are spontaneously fermented with indigenous yeasts and a maceration on the skins of about a month, with periodic pumping over and punching down. Before bottling, the wine matures for one year in 25-hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels.

Arianna Occhipinti's Frappato is a surprising red that dispels all misconceptions about full-bodied, intense and structured Sicilian wines. Faithfully indulging the personality of the grape variety, the winery offers a light and refined label. Beautifully bright and clear ruby red in color, it reveals a fragrant and refined bouquet on the nose, with scents of violet, iris, raspberry, morello cherry, red currant, delicate spicy hints of pink pepper and nuances of herbs. Medium-bodied, it has crisp, juicy fruit wrapped in a fine and elegant tannic texture, accompanying a harmonious, fresh finish with good aromatic persistence.
