PINOT NOIR WEINGUT GOTTARDI 2019 DESCRIPTION

The Pinot Noir produced by Bruno Gottardi's South Tyrolean winery is one of the landmark labels of the area and one of the most prestigious and appreciated interpretations of the famous Mazzon cru. The Burgundy red has found in this area the perfect conditions to express itself on high qualitative levels, with wines appreciated by all enthusiasts. The richness of the fruit marries a fresh elegance and a fascinating aromatic complexity, creating an absolutely perfect gustatory symphony. An ideal red for those who prefer the finesse of one of the world's most beloved grape varieties.

This Pinot Noir is produced by one of the most important names in South Tyrolean wine. The Gottardi family, originally from Mazzon, has been trading wines in Austria for more than a century and runs a store in Innsbruck. In the 1960s, it began growing vines and making wine, soon establishing itself as one of the benchmark estates in the South Tyrolean Pinot Noir scene. The wine is the pure and direct expression of the grapes that come from the vineyards of Mazzon, one of the most vocated areas in Italy for growing Pinot Noir. The altitude, together with a perfect exposure to the sun and good temperature ranges make this small plateau above Egna a true cru, allowing grapes of absolute excellence to ripen. The best bunches are sent to the fermentation stage, which takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with classic maceration on the skins. The wine matures for one year in barriques, ¼ new, and another 8 months in large barrels.

Pinot Noir wine from Weingut Gottardi is a label that belongs to the elite of the best South Tyrolean reds. It is a guarantee of quality and fidelity to the best characteristics of a great terroir, historically suited for cultivating this Burgundian grape variety. To the eye it has a light ruby red color with luminous reflections. To the nose you can perceive an elegan bouquet, in which the scents of raspberry, red currant, wild strawberries, hints of underbrush and herbs stand out, together wirh slight spicy sensations and a light touch of vanilla. The palate is harmonious and smooth, medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a pleasant, delicate aromatic profile. The finish is persistent, fresh and savory. A splendid and classic expression of an excellent Pinot Noir from Alto Adige.
