Torre Fornello Gutturnio Superiore 'Sinsӓl' is a still red wine from Piacenza with a bright and pleasant spirit, the result of a blend of Barbera and Croatina, locally called Bonarda. The name is Gutturnio comes from the Latin "gutturnium," a word that designated peculiar finely decorated silver cups formerly used by the Romans. In contrast, "Sinsӓl" is a term from the dialect of Piacenza that, in the past, denoted the one who handled and mediated agricultural products and was also the architect of marriage unions between the children of different wealthy families. It was chosen as the appellation for this label to highlight the perfect marriage of two different but traditionally related grape varieties.
Torre Fornello's 'Sinsӓl' Gutturnio Superiore Colli Piacentini is derived from a blend of Barbera (60%) and Croatina (40%) grapes from vines planted in 2000 on silty soils rich in calcium and potassium. The agronomic management of the vineyards can then boast of organic certification. In the winery, the grapes are vinified in red in stainless steel tanks, and the subsequent maturation phase takes place for 80% of the mass also in steel and for the remaining 20% in barrique for 3 months before blending and subsequent bottling.
Colli Piacentini Gutturnio Superiore Torre Fornello 'Sinsӓl' possesses a dark ruby red colour with purple outlines.
