This Rosé by Duca di Salaparuta is a fresh wine, son of the Mediterranean, born to celebrate the Sicilian spirit. On the label we find a large work of art by Renato Guttuso, a reminder of the colours and beauty of Sicily. On the nose, fresh fruity hints are prominent, reminiscent of cherries and strawberries. The palate reveals an elegant yet cheerful soul, a sip of Sicily: ideal for an aperitif by the sea
The Rosato signed Duca di Salaparuta is a label that makesaccessibility and freshness its strong points, attributes that make this wine an ideal choice for aperitif time, perhaps at sunset by the sea. Duca di Salaparuta works with numerous grape varieties and, among these, Frappato plays an important role in conveying the modern yet traditional dimension of Sicilian oenology, as demonstrated by this Rosato, made with only Frappato grapes. This label is also part of the 'Autentici di Sicilia' collection, inaugurated in 2024 with the intention of representing the more youthful and lively face of oenological Sicily, celebrated through Renato Guttuso's painting that colours the labels of the six wines in the collection.
Duca di Salaparuta Rosato is made from pure Frappato grapes grown in central-southern Sicily, at altitudes between 50 and 300 metres above sea level. After the harvest, which takes place in September, the grapes are destemmed and then subjected to a delicate skin maceration directly in the press, with the temperature maintained between 6 and 10 °C to preserve the aromatic heritage. The must is then conveyed into temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation at a temperature of 16-18 °C. Maturation always takes place in steel, containers in which the wine remains for about 3 months in contact with the yeasts to acquire greater softness.
The Rosato di Duca di Salaparuta has a light powdery pink colour. The nose offers pleasant floral hints of rose and violet that meet fruity hints of wild strawberry. The taste is fine and delicate, characterised by marked freshness and good savoury persistence.
