Giovanna Madonia's Albana Secco 'Neblina' is a wine of noble and ancient origins, produced from a grape variety that has been rediscovered and enhanced in recent decades, thanks to a few local producers convinced of its potential and charm. Legend has it that already the Roman princess Galla Placidia, in the 5th century AD, appreciated the goodness of the white wines of the Ravenna area. Even today, the vine is cultivated mainly in the Bertinoro area and yields excellent whites that express a rich and intense aromatic palette, ranging from floral notes to rich fruity softness. A full-bodied wine, absolutely to be tried to get to know a small pearl of our vast heritage of indigenous grape varieties.
"Neblina" is the Albana Secco of Giovanna Madonia, a passionate winegrower who manages a 14-hectare estate in the rolling hills of Bertinoro. The climate is influenced by the proximity of the sea, which provides mild temperatures and constant ventilation. The soils in this area are very special, characterised by the presence of limestone rock formations with a spongy appearance, which were formed by the sedimentation of shells and sand on ancient sea beds. The Albana vines are still bush-trained, at an altitude of between 300 and 350 metres above sea level with south-westerly exposure. After manual harvesting, the grapes are softly pressed and the must ferments in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The wine is then bottled after several months of ageing in steel.
Giovanna Madonia's white Albana Secco 'Neblina' is a wine of great charm, unusual and original, a gem for connoisseurs, to be enjoyed especially with seafood cuisine. With a beautiful, luminous straw yellow colour, it captivates with its aromatic richness that offers scents of wild flowers, Mediterranean maquis herbs, fragrant aromas of citrus and white-fleshed fruit, in particular peach tobacco. The sip is very harmonious, with juicy, ample fruit that stretches towards an intense, fresh and satisfying finish.
