The Classic Method Oltrepò Pavese Pinot Nero Extra Brut ‘Nero d’Oro’ represents a rich and balanced sparkling wine produced by the family-run winery Bertè & Cordini. We are in Broni, in the province of Pavia, where in 1974 the Bertè Cordini family inherited the important winemaking legacy left by the Francesco Montagna winery. Today, the production of Bertè & Cordini is divided into three lines: the Oltrepò Pavese Classic Method, to which ‘Nero d’Oro’ belongs, the Historic Crus, and the Primo Fiore. The name ‘Nero d’Oro’ emphasizes that this bottle comes from only black grape Pinot Nero vinified in white, resulting in a wine with golden reflections.
The Oltrepò Pavese Classic Method Pinot Nero Extra Brut ‘Nero d’Oro’ by Bertè & Collini is made exclusively from Pinot Nero grapes grown on clay-limestone soils, about 250 meters above sea level. The clusters are vinified in white through soft and progressive pressing, and the fermentationis carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Once the sparkling base is made, it is bottled and added with tirage syrup for re-fermentation according to the Classic Method, with at least 28 months of aging on the lees in glass before disgorging and the subsequent topping up with dosage syrup.
The ‘Nero d’Oro’ Classic Method Oltrepò Pavese Extra Brut Pinot Nero from the estate Bertè & Cordini is straw yellow with bright golden reflections, with fine and persistent effervescence. The refined nose evokes aromas of white flowers, pear, and tropical fruit, enriched by fragrant hints of bakery. Fresh and inviting on the palate, with a soft and rich foam that enhances the enveloping creaminess in a complex and balanced context.
