The Cognac 1270 Frapin is a fine French distillate, made by a distillery with 21 generations of history. The selected grapes, that Ugni Blanc italians call Trebbiano, are grown in the Grande Champagne region, the central Cognac area. The result is a spirit of extraordinary complexity and aromatic richness, with notes of dried fruit, macerated white flowers with a pleasant vanilla finish and a reminiscence of grilled bread. Cognac 1270 is rich and rounded, perfect for sipping on its own or prepared with a cocktail

The Cognac ‘1270’ from the historic French distillery Frapin is a distillate capable of evoking the prestige and mastery of the Maison, whose historical roots date back to 1270, from which the label gets its name. This Cognac belongs to the cru ‘Grande Champagne’, one of the most prized and sought after in the Cognac production area, located just south of the town of Cognac. Contrary to what the name might suggest, the cru Grande Champagne has nothing to do with the famous sparkling wine. Rather, the term “champagne” derives from the Latin “campania”, which means “countryside”. A distinctive feature of the cru is the soil, made up of limestone and gypsum resulting from the compaction of marine fossils, an element that gives remarkable elegance to the distillate.

The ‘1270’ Cognac Grande Champagne Frapin is produced from a selection of Ugni Blanc grapes grown within the Grande Champagne cru, characterized by a maritime climate and soils formed by a layer of gypsum laid over layers of limestone and sandstone, derived from the accumulation of pelagic remains. After the harvest, the bunches are vinified white through soft pressing and alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Once the fermentation process is completed, the wine is immediately subjected to distillation in traditional charentais stills, with the resulting distillate aging for a long period in Limousine oak barrels.

The Frapin Grande Champagne ‘1270’ Cognac is a deep golden yellow color. The aromatic range offers rich notes of lime blossom and vine, dried fruit and macerated flowers, combined with sweet hints of vanilla and toasted bread due to the prolonged aging in wood. Broad, soft, and refined the taste, endowed with a surprising balance.
