Spumante Extra Brut Patagonia Fin Del Mundo
The Extra Brut Patagonia from Fin Del Mundo winery is a pungent, fresh and mineral Charmat Method sparkling wine. Composed of a blend in which Pinot Noir prevails over Chardonnay, the fermentation takes place in autoclave. The color is straw yellow with fantastic copper reflections, the nose offers fresh citrus notes and hints of wild flowers.
The Extra Brut cuvée "Patagonia" by Bodega del Fin del Mundo is a sparkling wine that evokes the glacial freshness of one of the wine regions at the southernmost latitude in the world: the iconic company logo of the inverted triangle is also present on this label, ideally representing the needle of a compass pointing south, towards that end of the world where the winery has its roots. The microclimate, the soil, and the landscape surrounding the properties are all elements that are well summarized within this production: a bubbly made from international grapes but with a territorial spirit.
The Extra Brut "Patagonia" by Bodega del Fin del Mundo represents an interesting example of sparkling wine production using the Charmat method made in a remote land and can rightly bear the name of the territory on its label. The blend consists of 80% Pinot Noir vinified in white and 20% Chardonnay: the grapes are grown in the San Patricio del Chañar area, in the northern part of the vast expanse of Patagonia, at an altitude of about 400 meters above sea level. The landscape is desert-like and rocky, which forced the Eurnekian family to devise a drip irrigation system that could utilize the waters of the Neuquén river. Within the winery, the refermentation of the wine blend occurs in autoclave, and at bottling, the sparkling wine presents a residual sugar of 8 grams per liter.
Brilliant and bright, the Extra Brut "Patagonia" by Bodega del Fin del Mundo presents itself: a deep straw-yellow color with vibrant coppery reflections and a fine, persistent effervescence. The aromas are pleasantly impactful: delicate and fresh citrus notes, aromatic white floral hints, and references to bread crust, with nuances of almond and dried fruit. Hints of tropical fruit and small berries enrich the olfactory profile. The sip is well balanced: a part of creamy sweetness is balanced by the remarkable citrus freshness. An interpretation of bubbly that pairs well with seafood appetizers, perhaps raw crustaceans and mollusks, or finger food based on crunchy vegetables and fresh cheeses.
