The palate is full-bodied, broad, and long

The Barolo Riserva “Briccolina” is one of the most prestigious labels of the Enrico Serafino winery. Although the company is located in Canale d’Alba, in the Roero lands, as it has been producing Barolo for over 140 years, it has acquired the historical right to vinify outside the denomination area. The Cru Briccolina of Serralunga d’Alba has always been famous for expressing great wines, intense, structured, elegant, and very long-lived, which in the Riserva version reach absolute qualitative peaks. It is a great Barolo, reserved for the finest connoisseurs and to be tasted on a special occasion, paired with braised meats, stews, or game in sauce.

“Briccolina” is the Barolo Riserva of a winery that owns high-quality parcels in the famous denomination. The estate of Enrico Serafino manages some vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba, Monforte, and La Morra under sustainable agriculture practices. Its wines are a faithful reflection of tradition and are made in a classic style. The vineyard located in the Cru Briccolina has an age of 80 years and enjoys a sunny exposure facing south, southwest. The soils are composed of calcareous-clay marls. At the end of the manual harvest, the bunches are further selected in the winery on a vibrating table and cooled with dry ice, in order to prevent the risk of unwanted oxidation. The grapes are then destemmed and a second selection of the berries is made. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and in conical wooden vats with temperature control and a maceration on the skins of about a month with periodic délestage. The wine matures for 28 months in medium-sized oak barrels.

The Riserva Barolo “Briccolina” by Enrico Serafino is a great red wine that highlights the best characteristics of the Nebbiolo from Serralunga d’Alba. It presents itself with a bright ruby red color with garnet reflections. The olfactory profile is intense and elegant, with aromas of marasca, red currant, floral hints of violet and dried flowers, notes of medicinal herbs, underbrush, licorice root, blonde tobacco, and delicate spices.
