Blanc des Agriates Domaine Giacometti 2024
Artisanal
Organic and biodynamic"Blanc des Agriates" is a Vermentino from Corsica with a fresh and savory profile. It is aged only in steel, expressing fresh and fragrant aromas of Mediterranean herbs, citrus, white fruit, and iodized hints. On the palate, it flows with lightness and pleasantness, with a lively marine freshness.
The Blanc des Agriates from Domaine Giacometti is produced in Corsica, precisely in Casta in the north of the island. The winery originated in 1987 with Laurent Giacometti and his son Christian, who decided to purchase some land with an attached estate to create their wine production: the guiding idea is that respect for nature and its fruits and the surrounding ecosystem of the vineyards must be of primary importance, to create wines of excellent quality. In 2006, the activity continues with Christian and his wife Corinne, who begin to instill a passion for the profession in their children Sarah and Simon to provide a future for their business.
The pure Vermentino of the Blanc des Agriates from Domaine Giacometti grows in vineyards covering approximately 26 hectares. The intervention in the vineyard is kept to a minimum to ensure respect for the natural phases of growth and development of the plants: the cultivation regime is organic and synthetic chemicals, pesticides, and herbicides are banned. The climate is characterized by heavy rainfall, especially in spring, but the constant presence of the Libeccio ensures that the rows remain consistently dry for healthy and ripe grapes. The harvest is manual, and in the winery, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts; it ages for 5 months in steel tanks on the lees.
The color of the Blanc des Agriates from Domaine Giacometti is a brilliant straw yellow. On the nose, it releases aromas of aromatic herbs from the Mediterranean scrub, citrus fruits, and in the finish, savory notes and iodine; on the palate, it reveals extreme freshness, with a smoothness and pleasant persistence, inviting one glass after another. It pairs excellently with dishes based on shellfish and mollusks, steamed fish, and smoked salmon; interesting with vegetarian dishes and fresh cheeses. An authentic wine with unexpected flavors, the result of careful and respectful work towards nature and its fruits, making it a rarity to be jealously preserved in one's cellar.
