Pommery's 'Apanage 1874' is a Brut Champagne made in honour of the 150th anniversary of the creation of Madame Pommery's first 'Brut'. It is a blend of grapes from the most historic and characteristic villages in Champagne, created by Clément Pierlot, the House's tenth Chef de Cave. The Crus chosen, in line with its predecessors, number 17 and include iconic names such as Cramant, Bouzy and Fleury-La Rivière, to name but a few. The ageing of the greatest vintages, including 2018, 2015 and 2012, along with the precious 'perpetual reserve' takes place for 48 months on the lees in the historic Gallo-Romanesque crayères de la Butte Saint-Nicaise. The result is a buttery, fresh and extremely elegant Champagne characterised by slight mineral hints and aromas of red fruits and citrus fruits. Perfect with shellfish and crustaceans

The Champagne Brut ‘Apanage 1874’ from the renowned French sparkling wine house Pommery is a sparkling wine of great class that faithfully reflects the characteristic mineral stamp of Pommery Champagnes. In particular, this cuvée was created in 2024 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the creation of the first Champagne Brut in history, which took place in 1874 on the visionary intuition of Madame Pommery, who asked her chef de cave Victor Lambert to produce a dry Champagne, contrary to the tastes of the time that favored high-dosage sparkling wines. The Champagne produced represented a true revolution and laid the foundations for modern sparkling wine standards.

The Brut ‘Apanage 1874’ Champagne Pommery is produced from a blend of Pinot Noir (45%), Chardonnay (40%), and Pinot Meunier (15%), sourced from a selection of vineyards located in 17 different villages of Champagne, chosen by Pommery's tenth chef de cave Clément Pierlot. Among these villages, most located in the Montagne de Reims area, notable names include Bouzy, Verzenay, Cramant, and Fleury-La Rivière. The sparkling base is the result of the combination of wines from some important vintages, vinified in stainless steel tanks, and a precious perpetual reserve. The sparkling process takes place in the bottle according to the Champenoise Method, associated with at least 48 months of aging on the lees before the final degorgement and dosage to Brut.

The color of the Champagne Pommery Brut ‘Apanage 1874’ is a pale pastel pink. On the nose, aromas of raspberry, cherry, white nectarine, and lemon zest follow one another, accompanied by mineral nuances of flint. The progression on the palate is creamy, almost buttery, well supported by the brilliant freshness that enhances the very persistent finish, characterized by an elegant minerality.
