Faro Palari 2014
The Faro from the Palari winery is a very full-bodied Sicilian red wine, aged for 18 months in new barriques. Intense and elegant aromas of red fruit, violets, humus, and warm spices accompany a deep and material taste, soft and balanced.
The Faro from the Palari winery is a Sicilian red of great elegance and finesse, captivating for its intensity and complexity. It is one of the most interesting excellences of the island and is born right on the extreme eastern tip of Sicily, overlooking the Strait of Messina. It is the wine of Scilla and Cariddi, produced with the classic grape varieties of the area, Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Nocera, and small percentages of other local grapes. The long aging process in barrique allows the wine to evolve and enrich itself with refined aromatic facets, making it particularly enchanting. Following the aromas of great finesse, a deep, long sip filled with a thousand aromatic nuances follows.
The Faro wine represents a small production within the territory of Sicily, but it has managed to capture the attention of enthusiasts and critics, especially thanks to the commitment of the Palari winery, which in the late '80s revitalized this historic denomination. The estate is located in Contrada Palari, near Santo Stefano Briga, south of the city of Messina. The old bush-trained vines are cultivated very close to the sea, on steep terraces made up of predominantly sandy soils. The climate, tempered by the breezes of the strait, is always very windy and allows for perfect ripening of red grape varieties. This is how extraordinarily charming reds are born, which combine the Mediterranean warmth of the Sicilian land with the refined elegance of noble grape varieties.
The Faro red wine from the Sicilian winery Palari comes from panoramic vineyards located on the coast of Messina, overlooking the waters of the strait. It is in this warm and windy terroir that high-quality grapes ripen. At the end of the classic red winemaking with skin maceration, the wine ages for 18 months in new barriques from Tronçais and Allier and completes its aging with another 18 months in bottle. In the glass, it has a ruby red color with garnet reflections. The bouquet recalls hints of violet, aromas of currants, small red berry fruits, slight spicy notes, underbrush scents, and mineral hints of graphite. On the palate, it has a good body, with dense and elegant tannins, a very complex aromatic mid-palate, and a smooth, long, and persistent finish. The closure is fresh and slightly spicy. It is a label produced in a limited number of bottles, always highly sought after by connoisseurs of great reds.
