Lugana 'Brolettino' Magnum Ca' dei Frati 2024
Perfect to give as a giftThe Brolettino is a Lugana of great thickness that is aged for 10 months in barrique. This aging in wood enhances the structure and softness of this fascinating Magnum, which on the nose highlights notes of ripe yellow fruit, nuances of roses, and a balsamic finish. On the palate, it does not lose freshness and elegance and offers a full and persistent sip.
The Ca’ dei Frati Lugana ‘Brolettino’ represents a bottle of remarkable balance and pleasantness, a pure expression of the indigenous grape variety Turbiana, otherwise known as Trebbiano di Lugana and Trebbiano di Soave in the homonymous Veneto area. After several ampelographic and genetic studies, it has been established that this variety is a clone of Verdicchio, a renowned white grape from the Marche region. The ‘Brolettino’ is undoubtedly one of the most representative labels of the estate, strongly tied to its area of origin.
The Lugana ‘Brolettino’ from Ca’ dei Frati is made solely from Trebbiano di Lugana grapes grown on calcareous-clay soils, with the bunches harvested at full ripeness and then subjected to a gentle pressing. The must obtained is then conveyed into steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation begins at controlled temperature, a process that is completed in oak barriques where malolactic fermentation also takes place. The subsequent maturation phase, which lasts for 10 months, has place in barrique and the wine is finally bottled and left to rest for a short period before being released on the market.
On visual examination, the ‘Brolettino’ Lugana from the Lombard estate Ca’ dei Frati presents itself with a straw yellow color with golden reflections. The aromatic spectrum opens up to hints of ripe fruit such as peach, melon, and yellow apple, combined with notes of pineapple and citrus as well as perceptions of vanilla and toasted almond. Excellent balance on the palate between the soft and enveloping body and the lively freshness, with a savory finish played on pleasant sensations of tropical fruit. The same producer suggests pairing this white wine with legume soups, rich seafood dishes, medium-aged cheeses, or even white meats and poultry.
