'L'Um' Rosso Lungarotti 2022
The "L'Um" represents the land of origin "L'Umbria" and it is a red wine that wants to tell the strong link with its territory. Aromas of wild berries, sweet spices and toasted sensations enliven a pleasant and intense sip, with compound tannins and a very long finish
L'U by Lungarotti is a modern red that seduces with its harmonious fruity fragrance and its pleasant and immediate expressive freshness. From the choice of the name, it aims to emphasize its strong connection to its land of origin, Umbria, and also to the producing winery Lungarotti, which wanted to create a label capable of representing tradition in the sign of innovation. The use of international grapes and the search for great drinkability and smoothness make it a bottle with a particularly convivial character, very versatile in food pairings.
The perfect harmony of L'U is due to a skillful blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and a small percentage of other local red berry varieties. Sangiovese brings character, structure, and personality, while Merlot adds elegant softness, richness of fruit, and seductive roundness. Fermentation takes place in steel, with a short maceration on the skins and daily pump-overs. The wine then matures for a period of 6 months in barrique and completes the refinement with about 10 months in the bottle before being put on the market.
L'U is a very appealing blend, the result of the perfect combination of Sangiovese and Merlot. The light and not overly prolonged extraction gives a red of pleasant immediacy, already very expressive in youth, without the need for long aging times to appreciate its taste. It presents itself with a bright ruby red color and youthful violet hues. The bouquet expresses aromas of red fruit, marasca, and fruit in alcohol, with light spicy and toasted nuances. The sip is inviting, agile, soft, and smooth, with a silky tannic texture and fruity freshness. It is a medium-structured red, suitable for flavorful first courses, white and red meats with simple preparations and quick cooking.
