Nebbiolo d'Alba 'Valmaggiore' Bruno Giacosa 2024
Rare winesThe Nebbiolo d'Alba "Valmaggiore" by Bruno Giacosa is a classy red wine and one of the symbols of the winery. On the nose, there are hints of small red fruits in jam, herbal notes, and dried flowers. On the palate, it is balanced, assertive on the sip, with silky tannins and a long finish.
The Nebbiolo Valmaggiore by Giacosa is a wine of great elegance and territorial adherence, endowed with interesting aging potential. A name that sounds legendary, that of Bruno Giacosa, a historic winemaker author of some of the most exciting bottles of Barolo and Barbaresco. A preference for an extraordinary grape, such as Nebbiolo, always interpreted in a classic and unobtrusive manner. Large barrels, spontaneous fermentations, healthy agriculture. All the prerequisites for a great wine, a category in which we also include this splendid Nebbiolo for quality-price. A piece of Langa, to always have in the cellar.
The red Valmaggiore by Giacosa is obtained from pure Nebbiolo grapes coming from the Valmaggiore vineyard, located near Alba. This wine is part of the line labeled as Casa Vinicola Bruno Giacosa, that is, products made only with grapes received from carefully selected local suppliers, a practice extremely widespread in the Langhe. Absolutely healthy grapes, which are fermented in steel containers, while the aging takes place for 12 months in large barrels of wood. Further aging in bottle before being put on the market.
The Valmaggiore wine by Giacosa fills the glass with its typical garnet color. A noble Nebbiolo, makes things clear already from the first sniff where it dispenses notes of dog rose, wilted violets, raspberry, and balsamic hints reminiscent of licorice. Composure and elegance, in the highest of meanings. A sip that does not lack typicity, has structure and freshness, but strikes for its harmonious nature and marked by a finely grained tannin. A great bottle, suitable for any occasion.
