Label with great prospects of aging, expresses a version of the vine, dense, balanced and deep. The glass lights up with buttery hints, notes of mtura fruit and citrus and floral hints.
Domaine La Soufrandiere introduces the Pouilly-Vinzelles ‘Les Quarts’, an charming and classy Burgundy Chardonnay at the top of the Mâconnais denominations. We are within the municipality of Vinzelles, a place renowned for its two castles, where since 1947 this family-run Domaine has been offering refined white wines, the result of a artisanal production spirit that adheres to the principles of biodynamic agriculture. The AOC Pouilly-Vinzelles, which allows the exclusive use of Chardonnay, is very close to the elegant and mineral archetype of Burgundy whites. The name “Vinzelles” comes from a Gallo-Roman term meaning “small vineyard”, a testament to the long winemaking tradition of this area.
The Pouilly-Vinzelles ‘Les Quarts’ from Domaine La Soufrandiere is a 100% Chardonnay grown under organic and biodynamic management on soft and airy Jurassic soils. The grapes, hand-picked within the climat ‘Les Quarts’, are gently pressed whole and the must obtained is placed in wooden barrels where it undergoes alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation conducted, respectively, by indigenous yeasts and lactic acid bacteria. The maturation proceeds partly in wooden barrels and partly in steel tanks for a period of 17 months and the wine is finally bottled without clarification and filtration.
The Domaine La Soufrandiere ‘Les Quarts’ Pouilly-Vinzelles expresses an intense golden yellow hue. The olfactory profile, broad and elegant, is painted with intense sensations of ripe fruit, citrus, and flowers, adorned with buttery notes. On the palate, it is rich and deep, with a satisfying roundness well balanced by the fresh-salty verve that anticipates the mineral finish. A Pouilly-Vinzelles that, for its refinement, is able to compete with important Chardonnays from the Côte de Beaune.
